This all began with two bird-loving neighbors. Myself, a parrot owner and my neighbor, a chicken and game bird enthusiast and owner. Like all neighbors, it took some time for us to get to know each other. Once we did there was no stopping us. Both of being Italian and in real estate added to our common understanding of one another. Myself having quit the real estate business to begin uptownpets.com several years ago has made this new section of the site possible.

I own several parrots, which gave me a full understanding of birds. One of which I have owned for 13 years. My childhood included 3 geese that my mother fancied and I therefore became familiar with their behaviors.

My next fowl adventure was the ownership of a flock of 6 geese consisting 2 each of Buff Chinese, African and Toulouse. This was an accidental purchase by my neighbor at a local auction. By accidental I mean she thought she was bidding on a pig! Auctions being so fast and crowded this is known to happen. Nevertheless they became my pets and have been a wonderful group of watch geese protecting over the rest of my waterfowl.

Gina Palone, my neighbor and friend has a degree in Animal Husbandry. Her experiences include, the breeding of parrots and a job in a Quarantine that clears all birds through the NY area. Her vast knowledge of birds in general gave me the comfort to begin this venture. The rest is history.
