Barred Rocks
The
Barred Rock is a favorite in this country. Developed in New
England nearly two centuries ago by crossing Dominiques and
Black Javas, and has spread to every part of the U.S. Prolific
layers of brown eggs, the hens don't mind the cold weather.
Their bodies are long, broad, and deep with bred-in strength
and vitality. Chicks are dark gray with white patches on head
and body.
